A Turn Around the Lake (Biwa-ichi)

Why not do a “biwa-ichi” (circle Biwako once) by bicycle? You could go for the scenery, of course, or for the enjoyment of a relaxing, leisurely trip (with the exception of the peak up north, for the more ambitious). The circumference of the lake is 200km, but there’s a 160km short-cut. If you’re an advanced cyclist, you can do it in a day, but most choose to do it in 2. You can even opt for the rent-a-cycle option that allows you to ditch your bicycle and pick up another one later, so there’s no need to keep your eye on the prize. Take your time and enjoy the ride!
