Asuka Stoneworks

Japan’s first system of law and government was established in Nara at the end of the 6th century. There are still some artefacts from this time on display in the village of Asukamura. The 20-odd objects include part of a fountain, and other pieces still cloaked in mystery. You can also see primitive sculptures resembling animals and guess what’s what.
