Akita Komachi: The Poet’s Rice

Reputed for its tolerance for frost and disease, Akita Komachi is a variety of rice with strong umami and sweetness. It also has the perfect balance between stickiness and texture. Named after Ononokomachi, a poet from the Heian period (794 to 1185) and Akita native, Akita Komachi maintains its taste even when cold, making it suitable for onigiri rice balls and bento boxes.
