Matsumoto Castle & City Skyline

Matsumoto City is home to a Japanese national treasure: Matsumoto Castle. Originally called Fukashi Castle in the Sengoku period when it was bulit, it’s the oldest remaining six-floor castle in Japan. An historic atmosphere is preserved, with warehouses and buildings from the Meiji to Showa eras. The many wells in the streets indicate an abundance of fresh water.
