Masumi is Nagano’s most popular brand of sake. The operators pride themselves on the high quality of their product. The rice used to make it is polished on-site, and the sake is brewed using a combination of work by hand and machine. The brand takes its name from the Masumi Mirror, a treasure belonging to the Suwa Grand Shrine. In 1997, the owners opened a boutique in the brewery where visitors can shop for sake accoutrements and enjoy tastings in a room overlooking a 300-year-old pine tree.
