Every summer, Niki Club invites top academics, artists, designers, and musicians to speak at its Schule im Berg (School in the Mountains). For three days, participants can enjoy a diverse program of symposia, performances and open-air markets that celebrate the resort’s artistic spirit. Bar Radio also opens its doors during this period. The institution was established in 1972 in Tokyo, and was a popular watering hole for the city’s cultural elite. Bar Radio relocated to Niki Club after it closed in 2002, and operates for just three days a year with the original owner behind the bar.
