Warehouse Gallery Mitsuhashi

Located near Izu City’s famous Asahi Waterfall, this place was created through the transformation of an old, rundown warehouse into a beautiful gallery now used for dye-art; indigo-dye, gold-dye from onion skins, green-dye from Wasabi and Safflower pink. The experience workshop is open for reservations from those wishing to create their own pieces and is highly recommended. Dyeing here is performed using the traditional Natural Lye Fermentation technique. Natural dye is created by combining fermented plants, known as Tadeai and Sukumo with coal and alcohol. No artificial ingredients are used, making it safe for any age and long-lasting- synthetic dyes such as those used in denim are prone to fading or transfer, but not here.
