The Flowers of Furano and Biei

Most visitors to Biei and Furano come for the flowers; whether as avid gardeners themselves, student horticulturalists, photographers or those who love to see the grandeur of nature. Furano is most-famous for its fields of lavender that bloom from around the end of June each year. Shikisai No Oka is one such park. Free of charge entry (donation optional), souvenir shops, local produce and the chance to walk through the patchwork fields of your dreams. Go for a tractor ride, feed the local Alpacas, or just sit back and take in the fresh, country air. Just traveling through Biei and Furano, you can come across Roses, Cosmos and even Honeyberries (and limited edition honeyberry-flavoured water) almost at every turn. It’s impossible to decide if wild nature or organised agriculture is the winner here, everything works together in great harmony.
